This Turkey and Sweet Potato Chili is sure to become a family favorite. It uses turkey instead of beef, which cuts down on fat while maintaining plenty of protein and flavor. High-fiber sweet potatoes, which are considered a superfood, add nutrients like iron, vitamin B, and vitamin C to the chili making it a welcome addition to any health-conscious meal plan.

The combination of spicy chipotle powder and sweet potatoes is really unique! If you don’t care for spicy food, you can minimize the spiciness by adjusting the amount of chipotle powder used.

Pro Tips…

This recipe can be “changed up” by using regular or fire-roasted diced and crushed tomatoes. Fire roasted tomatoes will give your chili a sweet and smoky flavor.

Black beans can be added, if desired, to give this chili some extra protein and color.

Reduce or increase the broth depending on how thick you like your chili.

  1. I have two frozen turkey drumsticks I’d like to use up. Do you think it would work if I defrosted them, put them into the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients for this recipe, cooked on low for a couple of extra hours, and then shredded the meat off the bones?
