Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce like Frank's
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water whisked together
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Place the cubed chicken into the slow cooker.
  • Whisk together broth, hot sauce, tomato sauce, sugar, pepper flakes, and cornstarch slurry.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker, cover, and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
  • In the last 30-45 minutes of cooking, add the heavy cream to the slow cooker to thicken the sauce and allow it to fully heat through.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days; only freeze the chicken without added cream or pasta to preserve the texture of the dish.
  • Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave, stirring in increments, and adding a splash of broth or cream if needed.
  • Cut chicken into uniform pieces for even cooking.
  • Adjust the spice with extra red pepper flakes or a few dashes of sriracha sauce. Reduce the spice with less hot sauce and extra cream or tomato sauce.
