In large skillet over medium high heat melt 3 tablespoons butter
Peel and core apples and dice into bite sized pieces
Peel onion, cut in half and then slice into thin pieces

Add apples, onion and celery to melted butter in skillet and sauté for 6-8 minutes until they start to turn golden brown
Add seasonings and continue to sauté for another minute or 2
Remove from heat and add breadcrumbs and cranberries to skillet
Slowly add broth a little at a time until all breadcrumbs are moistened but not soggy
Whisk together egg and stir into mixture
Transfer to slow cooker that has been sprayed with nonstick spray
