What’s the best way to cook chicken? Chefs whose cooking abilities range from novice to expert have long agreed that the best method for preparing chicken is slow cooking. Chicken turns out juicier, is more tender, and has more flavor when cooked in the slow cooker–especially when you use the LOW setting. And, you don’t have to cook it for very long to get these results!

Ingredients

What is honey mustard sauce? This popular sauce was actually invented in the 80s by a popular chicken restaurant chain when they were searching for a dipping sauce to put on their menu. It combined honey and mustard with mayonnaise to make a smooth sauce with a tangy zip that people have enjoyed on their chicken for the past 40+ years. The sauce this recipe uses for Honey Mustard Chicken is so simple that your children can help you make it! Why not turn meal prep into quality time with your kids?

What else can I use honey mustard sauce on? You can put honey mustard sauce on just about anything! Honey Mustard is a versatile sauce that kicks any dish up a few levels. We’ll use it in our Slow Cooker Honey Mustard Chicken. But, you can also toss root veggies in it before roasting. Many people use it to dress a green salad or as a dip for fresh veggies.

Do I have to brown the chicken before putting it in the slow cooker? No, you don’t have to. However, your Honey Mustard Chicken will have a nicer presentation if you do. The flavor won’t suffer much if you don’t, but I do recommend browning the chicken first so your Honey Mustard Chicken has a nice look when you plate it.
