Other common questions:

How much spice should I use?

I will depend on the recipe, but my general recommendation is to use 2-3 tablespoons per pound of meat depending on how much flavor is desired

How can I make this less spicy?

Reduce the amount of cayenne pepper

How long does this last?

Homemade spice blends don’t have additives so they won’t last as long as store bought. However, stored in an airtight container they should last several weeks.

Can I double the recipe?

Absolutely!! Double, triple, make as much as you want! Just don’t make more than you will use or give away within a couple of months.

  1. Hi Jennifer,

Would really appreciate some help. How would you adjust the spice mix if you left out cinnamon, ginger, and allspice?

    Thank you,
    Janelle

  2. Your nutrition chart says potassium is 302 …for what size portion? Am kidney patient and this is crucial . Thanks

    1. I’d suggest recalculating this with the exact ingredients and measurements you are using if these numbers are crucial, as these are just estimates and can not be completely accurate depending on different brands used, etc.
